How Do We Pick Our Top Suggestions?

Best Spin Bikes 2016

There are a lot of things to consider when trying to figure out what is the best spin bike of the year, so we broke our reviews down into a few different categories and used that as the way to sift through all the different types of bikes that exist on the market today.

Design and Structure

When we are looking at the design and structure of the bikes it’s not necessarily in how it works but how well does the design and build hold up over time and perform. Things that go into this part of the review are the durability and toughness of the frame, how well the flywheel holds up to repeated use, how well the seat adjusts and provides stability and all the small things that add up to either a solid design or a poorly designed spin bike.

Performance

Determining the performance of a bike requires some research as it’s hard to know if a bike performs like it says it will or if it is just all used as a gimmick. We reached out and interviewed lots of fitness instructors that use spin bikes everyday to get their opinions on what bikes are best in regards to how well they perform, their durability and how good of a workout they help deliver.

Comfort

This part of the review is not as important if other aspects of the bike hold up as you can always make a seat more comfortable but it’s still important to know how comfortable a bike that you will be using for years to come really is. The seat is a big part but also the pedals being accommodating play a role in this as well.

All the bikes listed in our review have a really good rating when it comes to comfort so that is something you don’t have to worry about for this review.

Cost

Everybody that is looking for a spin bike for home use has a different budget, so we have picked the best bikes in various price ranges to help you find the best bike for you, no matter what your budget.

5 Tips To Help You Enjoy Your Spin Bike

Best Spin Bikes 2016

Deciding to get a spin bike is a great step in the right direction to start living a healthier and better life. It’s also a fun workout that can make a big difference in how you look and ultimately feel about yourself. To get the most benefits from your bike and to enjoy your workouts more, there are some things that you should know before you start your first workout.

Before we get to the tips there are some things that you should know about how effective using a spin bike really is. Did you know that you can burn up to 900 calories in a single spin bike session of 35-70 minutes, depending on the intensity of the workout. Yes you read that right, 900 calories! That’s a lot of calories in a short amount of time, just think about the progress you could make in just a few months of using it.

Ok now onto the tips to help you enjoy your spin bike to the fullest.

Dress Accordingly

You want to wear something that is relatively tight on you. For the most part you can just wear a t-shirt and shorts but you don’t want to wear baggy shirts or shorts as you could run the risk of getting clothing caught in the flywheel.

Adjust Your Bike To Your Height

This means adjust the seat to your comfort and liking, make sure the foot pedal straps are tight as well. When you are going to be riding on it for 30 minutes or more at a time you want to be sure to be as comfortable as possible. If your seat isn’t adjusted correctly then you will get uncomfortable really quickly and may even be too sore to workout the next time you would like.

Understand How The Machine Works

With every bike there will be an owners manual that comes with it, don’t throw it away. Please read it and really get to know your bike and how it works and all the features that it comes with as well.

Keep A Towel Handy

It’s a smart idea to keep a towel handy while you are using the bike as you will work up a sweat. Usually keeping a towel on the handlebars is the easiest place to keep it and trust us, you will want to use a towel as this will keep you from having to either mop up all your sweat on the floor or getting a towel to soak it up from the carpet.

Stay Hydrated and Start Slow

It’s vitally important to stay hydrated while you are using your spin bike, most of them will come with a water bottle holder so utilize it. Also if you are new to working out or using a spin bike then start slow and take time outs as you need them. Remember that getting in shape takes time and you’re not going to get there overnight, it’s better to take your time and build up your strength than overdue it and wind up injured or worse.

Our Spin Bike Reviews: The Best Spinning Bikes of 2017

1) Keiser M3 Plus

Best Spin Bike 2016

When it comes to the best spin bike on the market then you can look no further than the Keiser M3 Plus. It’s simply the best of the best, so if you’re planning on taking your cardio serious and are interested in making a concerted effort to improve your health then this bike is for you. The number one spot is reserved for the very best, which this bike is but you also get what you pay for and this bike is definitely not the cheapest in our review. But it is the best by a long shot.

Things that set this bike apart are its exceptional construction and the latest technology it utilizes to give you a great workout, this bike literally gives has just about anything you want in a spin bike and then some.

The M3 Plus also provides magnetic resistance on 24 various levels, which means it’s perfect for beginners all the way up to professional athletes. The bike simulates real life bike riding like no other bike out there and therefore is ideal for those that want to lose weight or bicyclists that can’t ride due to inclement weather.

It also features all the conventional features you would expect like a high quality digital display, Shimano pedals, a water bottle holder and of course a very comfortable adjustable seat.

Magnetic Resistance

Where the M3 out performs other spinning bikes is the magnetic resistance it utilizes. What this means is that unlike some other bikes you may have used before, this bike provides an ultra smooth ride every time. Not to mention the magnetic resistance means that the bike is basically silent so if you watch television, listen to music or anything else while using it you can hear it easily.

Intelligent Computer Display

Another function that differentiates the Keiser M3 Plus from the average spin bike is the advanced computer display screen. Because it uses the magnetic resistance system, the user is able to set the bike to a highly specific resistance level by using the computer system interface. The display will also show you how many calories you burnt during your workout, your pedaling RPMs, how far you traveled in miles and more.

To summarize the Kesier M3 Plus, it’s the best spin bike on the market in 2016 but that quality comes at a pretty high price tag. But if you are serious about making an investment in your health and you plan on spending many hours using a bike, it’s an investment that you won’t regret. Not to mention with the high quality of the unit you won’t have to worry about it breaking down like other models that may be cheaper.

2) Sole Fitness SB700 Commercial Bike

Sole SB700 is a solid spin bike that is utilized in many gyms and fitness clubs all over the world, which means it can withstand a lot of use. It’s got just about everything one would expect to find in a higher tier performance bike and is created to also be as comfortable as possible while being used as well. Some of the features that make it comfortable are cushioned seats as well as nice handles that are textured.

The computer system display is cutting edge as well. It has an easy to read LCD screen that is backlit and allows you to track all kinds of stats during your training sessions. You can track calories burned, distance traveled, overall exercise time and pedal RPM as well. The SB700 can support up to 300 lbs so if you are overweight you can still use it safely as well.

Really the only negative about this bike is that the assembly of the bike can take a little time and is a bit complex as well. It can be done with the instruction manual but it’s easier to go to YouTube and find videos that walk through the whole assembly process. Once it’s together you shouldn’t have any problems using it though.

To sum it up, The SB700 is a fantastic spinning bike  that also falls under the $1000 mark and is one of the highest rated bikes by many of our readers as well as many fitness professionals.

3) Spinner Fit Indoor Cycle

For those that are serious about working out but aren’t wanting to invest in something less than $1,000 then the Spinner Fit Indoor Cycle is a great choice for you.

Spinner Fit has been one of the top brands for mid price range spinning bikes for years now and it actually outperforms many of it’s competitors that are priced much higher than this bike in terms of durability and performance. This bike doesn’t have all the bells and whistles like some of the other bikes in our review. For instance it does not come with a computer screen but that doesn’t mean it’s not a quality bike, it just depends on what sort of features you desire in a bike.

This bike is as steady as they come as the pedaling is always smooth no matter if you’re going easy or if you are peddling all out, you’ll never notice a difference in how it rides. Like many of the other bikes in our review the seat is completely adjustable as are also the handle bars. This bike weighs in around 90 pounds but it has wheels on it’s rear so it can be tilted and moved very easily wherever you need it.

Overall this is a solid bike that sets in the middle range between the $500-$1,000 range. Whether or not it’s for you really depends on what features you are looking for in a bike.

4) Sunny Health & Physical Fitness Premier

The #4 and #5 bikes in our review are both from Sunny Health, the Premier is an upgraded model from the Fitness Pro. This bike is a tad bit more sturdy and durable than the Fitness Pro and in our opinion is a better looking bike (for whatever that’s worth to you).

It comes with an adjustable, padded seated as well as adjustable handlebars and pedal straps. It also has a bit of a bigger flywheel at 49 pounds and has a solid range or various resistance levels that can fit users of all fitness levels. It also has a belt drive mechanism which simulates riding a bike on the road pretty well and offers stability as well. It does not have a computer screen so that is something you will need to think about and whether it’s an option you could do without.

At a price tag of around $300, it’s a solid spinning bike for the price range it’s in.

5) Sunny Health & Physical Fitness Pro

If you are looking for a budget friendly spinning bike then the Sunny Health & Physical Fitness Pro is a good choice, as it comes in around the $250 mark. It’s made of quality materials and can withstand everyday use for many years to come.

It has many of the same features as the #4 bike (Fitness Premier) but it’s not quite as sturdy and it’s made of more plastic than the other bikes as well. It only has a 40 pound flywheel but it does have the same drive mechanism as the Fitness Premier which gives it a smooth ride. It also comes with adjustable handlebar and seat as well. It will hold up to 275 pounds also.

Unlike some other bikes in this price range you aren’t purchasing a hunk of junk that will need to be replaced in a few years, this bike is made of quality materials and is sound in structure. It’s also surprisingly quiet (even at high speeds) which is something other bikes in this price range can’t really say.

All in all this is a solid budget spin bike and also comes with great reviews from users as well.
